Id be careful with those hands! Theyre getting a little bit lost with the other parts of the fish. I would suggest making them lighter or having something to break them away from the rest of the fish, but otherwise looks great!
I like the addition of the hands. I feel like you need to use the pen tool to draw them. The stylization image trace adds on the hands aren't matching the stylization of the fish. (the pattern on the fish is much larger and smooth as opposed to the hands which look more grainy.) Also, that's a stock image icon on the right hand, which is an easy fix if you used the pen tool instead.
I agree with Maggie and Belle. The hands should be drawn in instead of image traced. They're getting lost with the rest of the piece. I like the addition a lot, I just feel like drawing them would make them more present in the piece.
I like the idea of the hands, but they get a little lost. You might try drawing them, or at least playing with a wider range of value. Drawing the hands will make them stand out more, as right now at first glance they look like an extension of the fish
I agree with the other comments. The addition of the hands definitely adds to the concept of a booklight. But, definitely removing some values and simplifying them may make them stand out from the values in the angler fish.
I would just keep a line art of the hands. Create a divide in the piece between your appliance and the "rest". Your angler fish is really cool, and making everything else detailed will make it disappear more. I would stick to line art for hands and background to make the fish "in your face".
I would also add a visible light from the fishes "bulb". Even a simple white to transparent gradient.
Kinda confused by the hands, are they someone else's reaching for the book? I'm sure it'll make more sense once you finish the environment though. Anyways, it's coming along nicely, excited to see the final piece!
Looking good. I really interested on what kind of background your going to put with this image so that it stands up as much as it does right now. Cause all the detail will get lost if it is to busy. Might be cool to do rays from the light that is transparent so the background is washed out from the light.
This is sick. I'm thinking you could make the background all black because those fish stay in the deep ocean. Make the light bulb show off a glow effect! Keep up the good work. One of my favorites out of everyones - Jordon
I agree with what everyone else has said about the hands, and I think that the idea of hands definitely adds to the concept of the booklight. I love the way this looks though, and I'm excited to see how the addition of a background will affect this piece!
This is awesome! You did the placement of the book so well! I actually like the one without the hands better. I think the whimsical lines are shapes added a stencil, pop up book kind of quality, but you loose that with the hands. Just my opinion, though. It looks sick both ways!
Not much change since last week. Nice job on separating the image, but I think you are relying too much on image trace to do the work for you and not delving into the bezier pen tools or any other features of Illustrator. The hands are camouflaged right now so we hardly notice them. Maybe the matt will hide this, but they are also chopped off? The transition (reading light?) to another object needs to happen somewhere? A dark environment makes sense? Why the numbers on the hand? Also, why the hands for that matter? I thought the concept was a reading light, no?
